Like many downloads priced at 560 Microsoft points, Overlord a bit short. Don't let that deter you, though. This is one of the best series of missions that the franchise has yet seen.
Things begin simply enough. Like other add-ons, this one puts a new mission objective onto the galaxy map for you to track down. A rogue VI has taken control of a Cerberus outpost and is slaughtering just about everything with the help of the Geth. Where others have failed, Shepard and crew must now succeed.
More Mass Effect 2: Overlord
From the opening moments, it's easy to see that Overlord has the same high production values as Mass Effect 2 -- no shortcuts were taken. In fact, much of the visual and audio work exceeds what you get in many of the Mass Effect 2 side quests. Overlord has some beautiful vistas and environments to explore and plenty of variety. The audio is haunting.
The best part of Overlord is how fantastic the gameplay is. There's a fair bit of combat and a few snippets of that award-winning dialogue, but it's the new features that steal the show. A vehicle called the Hammerhead is here -- taking the place of the Mako, and trumping it in every way. There are also a few puzzles to solve and BioWare even manages to squeeze in a bit of light platforming. The climax at the end, which I won't spoil here, will have you in a tizzy.
And who might this be?
CLOSING COMMENTS
The whole package is quite fantastic, but again I have to remind you that it is a bit short. My playthrough clocked in at somewhere around one or two hours. All it took was one easy afternoon and I’d had my fill and earned 15 of the 25 new achievement points. Even so, Overlord is a winner and one of my favorite sets of Mass Effect missions yet. Go give it a
